Coverage of the Hwy 400 CrashThe minute Shay heard that one of the victims from the deadly November 2017 Highway 400 inferno crash was from North Bay, Shay contacted the wife, Nikiyah Mulak-Dunn, on facebook and asked her for an interview. Nikiyah was kind enough to grant Shay the first television interview and the footage was used all across Canada on CTV including National, Toronto and Barrie as well as Northern Ontario where Shay packaged a 5pm top and tail Rant as well as this highly viewed and shared news story.

She discusses the struggle it has been to find her a suitable home and her decision to ask CAS to take over custody. Shay put together the entire story with two packages for the 5pm and 6pm newscast.... everything from sourcing the interviews to all camera work to editing and feeding the story.

Sexual Assault RoadshowShay reports on a traveling art gallery that raises awareness and opens dialogue about sexual abuse. Shay sourced the story idea, booked all the interviews, researched the topic in depth and scripted the entire story. She filmed all footage including her own bridge, edited the 5pm rant and the 6pm package as well as the headliner tease and fed the footage into CTV's gateway all ahead of schedule.

Touching Interview with ArtistShay Galor interviewed local air-brush artist Jeff Marceau who created a tribute to the late Gord Downie in a downtown North Bay alley that has moved and touched the community. Shay was responsible for the story from beginning to end. She sourced the interviews, scripted the story, manned the camera, edited two different packages for the 5pm and 6pm newscasts and fed the stories.

Interviewees open up about how difficult it is to find inclusive events and how much growth they have seen with their child's involvement with horses. Shay covered the story from beginning to end - camera-work, scripting, editing, feeding, etc.

Strict Police EnforcementEvery day at CTV Shay has several story ideas ready to go which she pitches. Once approved, she has to complete multiple packages for all the newscasts in a very short amount of time. This includes a headliner/tease, a 5pm rant and a 6pm full package. She is responsible for all camera-work and shooting all footage including her own standups and bridges as well as all the editing which is done on Luma Fusion on a portable iPad. She is also responsible for all scripting and research. Once the packages are complete, she feeds the packages to each newscast. The system she uses is the CTV Atlas portable photojournalist pack.

Shay came up with the idea, honed it into a focus statement, set up interviews, scripted the story, filmed the footage, recorded the voice-overs, and completed all of the editing on Luma Fusion through the new CTV Atlas system. Drive Thru WeddingsIn Northern Ontario, reporters are completely independent. They are expected to submit a package daily that we have created completely by ourselves. There are no camera-people or editors to assist in the process. All these ENG are examples of daily stories that were created independently using an Atlas kit that fits into a backpack.
